Meet Jessica Getson

Financial Adviser | Director | Getson & Co Financial Planning

I've always believed the most important part of financial advice isn't money. It's people.

It's about helping people navigate important decisions. Decisions about family, retirement, work, opportunity, and the future they want to create.

I began my career in financial planning in 2010, working alongside my father, Tony Getson. It was there I learnt that great advice isn't built on products or projections. It's built on trust, genuine relationships, and taking the time to understand what matters most to each client.

That philosophy continues to guide my approach today through Getson & Co Financial Planning.

Why I Became a Financial Adviser

Working alongside my father taught me that good financial advice isn't about products or predictions. It's about helping people make important decisions and building relationships that stand the test of time.

What attracted me to this profession was the opportunity to support people through significant moments in their lives, whether that's retirement, raising a family, growing a business, or navigating unexpected change.

More than fifteen years later, that's still what I enjoy most about the work.

My Approach

I believe financial advice should help people understand their options and feel comfortable making decisions about their future.

No two people are facing exactly the same circumstances, which is why I take the time to understand what's important before discussing strategies or recommendations.

Good advice shouldn't leave you feeling overwhelmed. It should help you feel clearer than when you arrived.

My role isn't simply to provide advice. It's to help people make informed decisions and feel supported as they navigate life's financial opportunities and challenges.

What I Enjoy Most About Financial Advice

What I enjoy most about financial advice is hearing people's stories.

Everyone arrives with something different. A retirement they're looking forward to. A business they've spent years building. Children they want to support. A decision they've been putting off because they weren't sure where to start.

The decisions people make about money are rarely just about money. They're connected to family, opportunity, freedom, security, and the life they want to create.

One of the privileges of this profession is being invited into people's lives at important moments and helping them make decisions that genuinely matter.

One thing I've learnt over the years is that the financial question someone asks is often only part of the story. Understanding what's behind that question is where meaningful advice begins.

Something I'm Passionate About

One area that's particularly important to me is helping women feel more confident about their finances.

Over the years, I've met many intelligent, capable women who felt they should already understand investing, superannuation, or financial planning, but simply hadn't been given the opportunity, support, or confidence to ask questions.

I believe financial advice should be a place where people feel comfortable having honest conversations, regardless of their level of financial knowledge. There should never be an expectation that you already know all the answers.

Some of the most rewarding conversations I've had have been with women who initially felt uncertain about their finances but left feeling informed, comfortable, and confident making decisions about their future.

Helping people better understand their options and feel more in control of their financial lives is one of the reasons I love this profession.

Beyond the Office

Outside of work, you'll usually find me standing on the sidelines of a soccer field cheering on my boys, spending time at our family farm, or exploring South Australia with my family and our caravan.

I enjoy good food, good conversation, and sharing a Barossa red with family and friends whenever the opportunity arises.

Like many of my clients, I value balance. I believe financial planning should support the life you want to live, not become the focus of it. That's a philosophy I try to bring to both my personal life and my work.
